🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Psychological Thriller Merging Silent Hill and Among Us Mechanics The recent Day of the Devs online presentation unveiled a number of intriguing upcoming titles, but one in particular has captured the imagination: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience seems to blend the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction core of Among Us. "This is a unique experience where a girl containing multiple human souls within her needs to flee from a maze of the mind," states producer Yasukazu Kawai. Entering a Shattered Mind In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of high school age. Inside her exist four distinct souls, each with their own anxieties and drives. These entities can take over at will, releasing their innermost terrors upon her suddenly. Based on revealed gameplay, much of the narrative takes place within a creepy medical facility, while other scenes depict the protagonist exploring a abandoned chapel. An Environment of Personal Horror "What are you afraid of? What makes you uncomfortable?" poses creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. People in power. Things that seem trivial to other people can activate something primal within us. This game delves into that concept — fears that are unique to each person." The central gameplay loop involves managing the persona that surfaces at a particular time. However, these identities will change involuntarily during gameplay. During exploration, each soul's fears become amplified and assault the protagonist in succession. As the persona changes, so does the specific fear the player experiences. Unsettling Aesthetics and a Deadly Choice Initially, UN:Me shares striking visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The hospital is filled with orderlies who all share the identical visage, with disturbingly broad grins. Patients in the lobby have enormous blooms growing from their necks should be. Flowers are a recurring theme, juxtaposing natural beauty with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me presents a unique mechanic. Players must determine which of the four souls inhabiting the heroine is the "true" one. "Each of the personas asserts that the body belongs to them," explains a creator. "During the game, you must determine who is authentic." Once players have deduced a soul is an impostor, they must eliminate it. But, because every entity can deceive or obfuscate the truth, it is incredibly simple to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," a voice states. "The final entity remaining could be a fraud. Either way, your decisions are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced release date, but it is can be follow on platforms.
