One of the co-founders behind the famous frozen dessert company Ben & Jerry's has announced how parent company Unilever stopped the launch for a new Palestine-themed ice cream flavor.

The entrepreneur, that co-founded the company with his partner, announced how he plans to personally create the controversial flavor within an individual collection highlighting causes Ben & Jerry's was prevented from speaking out about.

Ongoing Conflict Between Founders and Corporate Owner

This latest announcement intensifies the ongoing conflict between the world-famous ice cream maker and its corporate parent, the UK-based consumer goods giant which has owned the ice cream brand for over two decades.

Both founders maintain how Unilever and their ice cream division Magnum improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's from "maintaining its activist principles".

The Fruit Flavor becoming a Symbol of Solidarity

The entrepreneur announced through social media how he's developing an innovative watermelon-based frozen dessert, requesting public suggestions for the product's name and additional components.

“I'm accomplishing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder stated from his kitchen. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored ice cream that calls for lasting ceasefire for Palestinians and calls for addressing the harm that was done there.”

The watermelon has emerged as a symbol for solidarity with the Palestinian people due to its colors, that mirror those of Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Previous Social Engagement plus Recent Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell their merchandise in areas under Israeli control, leading to the parent company selling their Israel business over to a local licensee, thereby permitting continued sales in disputed territories.

This upcoming dessert series will be created through Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the activist ice cream brand which originally created in 2016 to support ex- political contender Bernie Sanders via the product "Bernie's Back".

Management Shifts plus Upcoming Plans

The founder stated how he plans to develop additional ice cream flavors focusing on concerns that the company was silenced from addressing publicly by corporate restrictions.

This development follows co-founder Mr. Greenfield resigned from the company in September, after decades with the organization, mentioning worries that the company's autonomy was compromised following corporate moves to restrict its social activism.

Previously, Ben Cohen remarked how “My partner has a really big heart and this conflict with our parent company was breaking it."

“My conscience compels me to continue to work within the organization to fight for its independence so that it can actualise the social mission, the principles which established its foundation and has maintained for over 40 years," he told media outlets.
