Vince Zampella, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a vehicle crash in California he was 55 years old.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The influential industry figure passed away following his car crashed and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, as reported by.

"We are facing a heartbreaking loss, and our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends, those closest to him, and all those touched by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts commented.
