Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Initiating Abusive Songs Targeting Manager Wilder

Patrick Bamford is now a member of the Championship side only half a year after starting insulting chants directed at the team's coach, Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a deal joining the second-tier club in difficulty until January. Bamford's seven-year time with Leeds concluded through agreement this past summer.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player included starting insulting chants about Wilder amid the club’s promotion party in April. Currently, the one-cap England player will feature for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to lift his beloved club out of the relegation zone.

Previous Conflict Involving Bamford & Wilder

Both men had a past before Leeds moved up to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as a "muppet" when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured automatic promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

All seems has been put behind them with United, the league's least productive attack, in desperate need of a boost in attack while Bamford aiming to revive his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely in April. An apologetic Patrick and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, called Wilder the next day.

Chris Wilder stated back then: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I have no issue at all with it. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We spent a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel too and had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a class act. When I was playing we used to dish it out and accept it and that is part and parcel of the game at every level, even on Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with it and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Playing Challenges

The forward featured in 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the former Forest, Chelsea and Middlesbrough striker has faced difficulties with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
