He said that the MoD is “looking into” cars from China within its fleets, but noted that safety is a concern in every contemporary vehicles.

We have a fleet of tens of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a tiny fraction.
But whether you’re traveling in a vehicle from China or a non-Chinese car, what we’ve asked our people is not to plug MoD devices into their vehicle, not to have conversations at a classified level in any vehicle, because of the growing risks of surveillance that are present in all automobile, to restrict those secret conversations in secure locations. That’s a prudent and reasonable thing for anyone concerned about security.

When it was put to him that it would be wise for the ministry to stop using every cars from China, Pollard responded: ‘That’s exactly what we are looking into at the moment.”
