A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the music world. All participated in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The single blends a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The team running the campaign have clarified that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure commented. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
