🔗 Share this article Battlefield 6's Casual Playlist Sparks Heated Discussions Over AI Players, XP Rewards, and Queue Times Over the weekend, Battlefield Studios launched a fresh game mode titled Casual Breakthrough. In essence, this option mirrors the standard Breakthrough setup but features a few key changes: Every squad includes only 8 real players, with the rest filled by AI-controlled opponents. Actions done by human gamers award full XP, while bot actions provide reduced XP. Just a pair of locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State. Features like Player tags, achievements, and career stat updates are disabled. In short, this mode delivers on its title: it's a casual version of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think it's a good idea, as it provides additional choices for gamers looking for alternative methods to have fun with the game. But, gaming history has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of BF6 fans are upset. Community Reactions: Anger to Support "People want real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," reads one reply to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking concept," says another. Meanwhile, in community forums, a player remarks, "I have no idea where we are going with this game," while someone else details everything they consider to be problematic in the game: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this AI-heavy playlist." However, for every complaint, there are players sharing how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to warm up, human participants keep it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," reads one Reddit comment. "The community doesn't understand that there are players who have lives and can't play this game 24/7. Allow them to find a middle ground," states another. A response on Twitter explains that as they're "a parent gamer with busy schedules, this is great for me," while another praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive." Valid Criticisms and Player Input Despite the support, there are valid points to criticize Casual Breakthrough. Some users have highlighted that it could increase queue times even longer for other modes because of the sheer number of playlists in the game already. Similarly, certain regions often face AI-filled matches in the current modes. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of human gamers, even though it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents. Lastly, one of the biggest grievances is that Battlefield Portal was promised to offer complete rewards, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to eliminate XP farming from the mode. Thus Casual Breakthrough feels like the player base meeting them halfway, as per a Reddit comment. A different user describes this addition as the developers "dropping the ball significantly, I experienced great enjoyment in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?" Looking Ahead: Will Changes Be Made? Should Battlefield Studios has demonstrated something so far with the latest installment, it's that they're paying attention and acting on feedback. Assignments that were overly hard got fixed rapidly, as did the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, should analytics indicates this new playlist isn't performing to their standards, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
